How to recharge zero

Created on 29 April 2012

Recharging ZERO is extremely simple. All you need is an electrical socket or a recharge station in town.

The cable is taken from the front luggage compartment and plugged into the socket.

Using the standard 220V on-board battery charger (standard issue on all vehicles) and with a power supply of 1.8 kW, it only takes about 10 hours to charge the batteries completely from 0% to 100%.

With the optional 220V MULTIFAST battery charger, you can fill up from 0% to 100% in around 5 hours at maximum absorption speed. This charger, which is also inside the vehicle, has three speeds and can be adjusted at any time depending on the power supply or time available for charging.

With the 380V SUPERFAST external charger and a three-phase power supply the battery can be recharged from 0% to 80% in under an hour. An ideal solution for ZEROs that are part of a fleet of company cars.

We advise you to pay close attention to how you use ZERO during the first 500 km because the batteries are being run in. This corresponds to a period which covers the first 10 charge cycles of the Lithium batteries. During this phase, battery performance will not be fully achieved. In order to ensure maximum yield in terms of performance and battery life, throughout the initial 10 charge cycles, you should not consume more than 50% of the charge and be sure to fully recharge each time, including final active equalization (included automatically at the end of each charge cycle).

We advise you not to use RACE mode during this short initial phase. It is also good practice to charge up to 100% with active equalization at least once every 5 charge cycles, or twice per month, during the lifetime of the vehicle. Tazzari’s innovative active battery equalization system allows for ZERO’s long-lasting exceptional performance. Just leave her under charge for about an hour more than a normal charge cycle. Power consumption with be negligible during this final charge phase.

Correct battery usage is key to determining battery life. Tazzari estimates that the average life of ZERO’s Lithium batteries is on average 1200/2000 charge cycles (*).
