Tropical S.A. participated with his CEO (Mr G. Lagios) and its Director of Hydrogen Technologies (Mr G. Kaplanis) on the official presentation and demonstration of the NTUA's "PROMETHEUS" low consumption hybrid vehicle which competed on the yearly European Shell Eco Marathon at the end of May 2010.

During his speech, Mr G. Kaplanis talked about Tropical's ecological and innovative products (hydrogen fuel cells, hybrid systems with RES) which are developed on its highly equipped research laboratory. Also, he was referred on the close cooperation between Tropical with NTUA on several research projects as well as the sponsorship of the 1kW PEM Hydrogen Fuel Cell Stack and the 300Nl low pressure Hydrogen Metal Hydride Tank which are successfully integrated on the Prometheus Vehicle.

On NTUA's PROMETHEUS hybrid vehicle, Tropical offered a complete hydrogen fuel cell system suitable for such vehicles and the power produced was supplied to a highly efficient in-wheel electric motor which was designed, tested and developed on the Laboratory of National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) Electrical Engineering Department. The University Team in charge under this hybrid vehicle was lead by Mr C. Laskaris as well as from Professor A. Kladas.
