A concentration of energy. The lithium ion batteries are essential for previously unseen levels of performance. The energy storage capacity, together with the light weight of the latest generation lithium batteries ensure great roaming range and unprecedented performance for an electric vehicle.
Lead-acid batteries were never part of the ZERO project. In order to achieve the desired performance and guarantee a roaming range over 100 km, the only solution was Lithium. Lithium-ion batteries have a power-weight ratio (W/kg) far higher than Lead or Nickel Cadmium technologies; more or less 10 times higher. As it is so important to limit the vehicle’s weight in order to maintain performance, Lithium is the only efficient answer.
Furthermore, Lithium batteries do not suffer the memory-effect as with previous technologies and have an extremely low self-discharge rate.
The BMS (Battery Management System), developed for ZERO by the Tazzari Electric ensures reliability and best possible yield from the latest generation Lithium batteries. The active equalizer that the Tazzari team have developed for ZERO is an innovative device (standard fitting) which allows an automatic equalization of all battery elements at the end of each charge cycle. This device is key to achieving maximum yield and best battery life.
